Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017)

Video Game Trailer of the Week

Do not underestimate the power of the "Star Wars: Battlefront II" trailer. From the point of view of regular "Battlefront" button-bashers, the thing we miss most is a full campaign. The sequel addresses this, putting you in the boots of Empire soldier Iden Versio, in a story that spans 30 years following the events of Return of the Jedi. The Nov. 17 release can’t come soon enough.

Lena Dunham in Girls (2012)

Finale of the Week

After six seasons, “Girls” drew to a close with a confidence and maturity mirrored by leading lady Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham). In earlier seasons, these characters could be a frustrating watch, as they complained about their privileged lives in a way that was hard to find sympathetic or likeable. But Hannah and her “sisters” became ever-more enjoyable to spend time with, and this final season was funny, thoughtful, confident, and moving in equal measure. Dunham, who created the HBO drama, writing 41 episodes and directing 19, is to be applauded, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

Jackie Hoffman in Feud (2017)

Walkout of the Week

A decent person can only take so much careless cruelty, especially from the likes of screen legend and off-the-screen terror Joan Crawford. In the season's penultimate episode of "Feud," Crawford's housemaid and right-hand woman, Mamacita, played masterfully by Jackie Hoffman, finally does what fans have been wanting her to do all season: put her boss, Crawford (Jessica Lange), in her place and remove herself from an abusive situation, free from flying flower pots, of course. All to say, we don't want this season to end.

Riz Ahmed

Busy Schedule of the Week

Riz Ahmed was in our spotlight all week long. Fresh off playing Coachella as Riz MC of the Swet Shop Boys, he engaged in an intense rap battle with James Corden on "The Late Late Show" and nabbed a role in Jacque Audiard's indie feature The Sisters Brothers, starring Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, and Jake Gyllenhaal. To top it all off, he landed the cover of Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential figures in the world.

Julia Roberts

Adam Driver in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

Favorite Force Awakens Facelift

The return of Adam Driver's ill-tempered First Order commander Kylo Ren was teased last week during the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but there was something different about him. At the end of The Force Awakens, Ren suffered a gnarly lightsaber strike across his entire face, thanks to Rey (Daisy Ridley). But in The Last Jedi teaser, Ren is shown with only a subtle scar running through his right eyebrow.

Fans on Twitter took notice. When director Rian Johnson was asked about the change, he replied, "It was my decision to slightly adjust it ... It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose.”

Hedy Lamarr in Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story (2017)

Festival Film Discovery of the Week

There are so many great films premiering at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, which kicked off this week, but we are especially excited to see Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story. Known as the "most beautiful woman in films," this classic actress was also apparently the secret inventor of secure Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS communications. Color us intrigued!

Steven Boyer in Trial & Error (2017)

Binge Watch of the Week

Raise your hand if you loved the first season of "Trial & Error" on NBC! In the spirit of "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation," this mockumentary style comedy does not fail to deliver. It stars John Lithgow, delivering his signature comedic style performance, as well as Nicholas D'Agosto and Jayma Mays. Even though the mockumentary comedy isn't new, "Trial & Error" delivers something completely unique. If you missed it, you can catch the whole series on Amazon.

Awesome Adaptation Announcement of the Week

Movie Reunion and Announcement of the Week

No we're not getting another Hellboy, but we are getting yet another Doug Jones-Guillermo del Toro team-up in del Toro's upcoming Cold War fantasy The Shape of Water. The film is described as an "other-wordly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963." Dylan Minnette in 13 Reasons Why (2017)

Obsession of the Week

After a weekend binge-fest, we still can't stop thinking about "13 Reasons Why" and that powerful ending. There's talk of a potential Season 2, we can't imagine another season without Hannah, despite how many questions we have. For now, we'll settle for a repeat viewing.
