Sony continues to develop more Marvel Comics' "Spider-Man" spin-off movies, including an R-rated  "Morbius the Living Vampire" feature, focusing on a human 'pseudo-vampire', with a screenplay by Burk Sharpless ("Dracula Untold") and Matt Sazama ("The Last Witch Hunter"):

Morbius: what might his Spider-Man spin-off be like?

Rob Leane Nov 22, 2017

Morbius is the latest Spider-Man villain to line up a solo spin-off movie. Here are the basics about the character...

Long-time followers of the comic book movie news cycle will know that Spider-Man spin-off announcements are a fairly common occurrence. While The Amazing Spider-Man franchise was still going, fans were told to expect films focused on everything from the Sinister Six to Peter Parker’s Aunt May. Talk of a Venom-centric movie bubbled away for years, as well.

However, until Sony made a deal with Marvel Studios to share the Spider-Man licence, resulting in the iconic web-slinger’s indoctrination into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony’s spin-off ideas seemed to be just that: ideas, which never actually happened.

But now that Marvel is helping Sony with the Spidey character (Tom Holland’s web-head will next be seen in

Morbius The Living Vampire Is Getting His Own Film

  • Cinelinx
The Sony Spider-Verse/Spiderless-Verse is adding another blood sucking film to the slate.

Venom is underway over at Fox with Tom Hardy set to play the iconic Anti-Hero, and Black Cat and Silver Sable is in the pipeline to get running at some point. Both films are set to take place in a Spider-Man-Less universe, or maybe Tom Hollond’s Wallcrawler might show, to be honest we have no idea. What we do know is that they are full steam ahead on their Spider-Man characters. Now we have our 3rd character getting his own stand alone. Morbius The Living Vampire.

Not including Blade, I would have to say that Morbius is the most famous Marvel Vampire, so I guess it makes sense to make a film centered on him. Besides those Twilight films did pretty well, right? The news on the film comes from THR, who reports that Power Rangers

Sony developing Spider-Man spinoff for Morbius, the Living Vampire

Not content with its Venom and Silver & Black movies, Sony has added a third project to its shared Spider-Man universe, with THR reporting that the studio is developing a Morbius, the Living Vampire film.

The project has been penned by screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, and the script has already been submitted to Sony. Sharpless and Sazama most recently penned Power Rangers, while their previous credits include The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt and Dracula Untold.

Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Morbius made his Marvel debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971 and is the alter-ego of Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who became inflicted with a form of vampirism after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood disease.

Sony is pushing full steam ahead with its plans to develop its Spidey-related Marvel properties, although it is expected that the spinoff movies will not be connected to the Marvel-produced Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Sony planning a third Spider-Man spin-off movie, Morbius

Simon Brew Nov 14, 2017

Following Venom and Silver & Black, Sony is working on a Morbius Spider-Man spin-off film...

Venom is currently filming with Tom Hardy in the lead role, kickstarting a long-mooted spin-off universe of Spider-Man characters that Sony wants to bring to the big screen. Following Venom, Silver And Black is set for cinemas in 2019, focusing on Black Cat and Silver Sable. And now we learn that Morbius is getting a movie too.

Debuting in Amazing Spider-Man issue 101, Morbius The Living Vampire is Dr Michael Morbius, a scientist who tries to cure his rare blood disease. It doesn’t go to plan, and instead, he gets fans, super-strength, and a thirsting for blood.

Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama – who penned the Power Rangers and Dracula Untold screenplays – have delivered a script to the studio for the project already. They’ve been working on the project on the quiet.

Sony Developing Movie on Spider-Man Enemy Morbius, The Living Vampire

Sony Developing Movie on Spider-Man Enemy Morbius, The Living Vampire
Sony Pictures is developing an untitled movie based on Spider-Man’s antagonist Morbius, The Living Vampire.

The project is being written by the scripting team of Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, whose feature credits include “Power Rangers,” “Gods of Egypt,” “Dracula Untold” and “The Last Witch Hunter.”

Morbius was created in 1971 by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane for “Amazing Spider-Man” issue number 101. He was a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease with tragic results as he became afflicted with vampiric traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood — and wound up battling Spider-Man.

Morbius appeared sporadically in Marvel Comics in the subsequent years and was revived in the 1992 series Morbius the Living Vampire, which had a run of 32 issues through April, 1995.

Sony had no comment as to whether the Morbius project will be connected to its Tom Holland Spider-Man movies or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Morbius the Living Vampire Is Sony's Next Spider-Man Spin-Off

Morbius the Living Vampire Is Sony's Next Spider-Man Spin-Off
It looks like Sony has even more projects on the burner for their Spider-Man spin-off movie universe than we previously thought. Developed in secret, it's come to light that the studio is moving forward with a movie based on Morbius the Living Vampire. According to a new report, the script has been submitted and the studio is ready to get it in front of a camera, which likely means finding a director to tackle the project. No director's names were brought up in this initial report about the next Spider-Man spin-off for Sony's standalone Marvel Universe.

The movie, simply titled Morbius, was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who most recently wrote the live-action Power Rangers movie for Saban and Lionsgate. Their other credits include God's of Egypt, Dracula Untold and The Last Witch Hunter. So this seems to be in their wheelhouse. While no specific plot details have been provided,

Dracula Untold Writers Developing Spider-Man Spinoff Film About Morbius the Living Vampire

  • DailyDead

There has always been an added undercurrent of dread to the foes the web slinger squares off against, and Morbius the Living Vampire is certainly no exception. With Sony currently filming a Venom spinoff film, the studio is wasting no time developing other characters in Spider-Man's cinematic universe, as they are reportedly developing a feature film spinoff focused on Morbius.

According to THR, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (whose writing credits include Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter, and the upcoming Lost in Space reboot series) have submitted a screenplay to Sony for a new Spider-Man spinoff movie about Morbius the Living Vampire, aka Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who accidentally transformed himself into a bloodthirsty creature of the night. Sony Pictures is Developing a Film Based on Marvel's Morbius The Living Vampire!

Sony Pictures is adding another Marvel movie to their slate of films that revolve around characters from the world of Spider-Man. Outside of the Spider-Man films that they are making with Marvel, Sony is developing a Venom film and a Silver Sable and Black Cat movie.

THR is now reporting that they are developing yet another spinoff based on Morbius The Living Vampire! According to the report, the movie will be called Morbius and it was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who previously worked on the recent Power Rangers movie. Apparently, they just submitted the script to the studio.

I love the character Morbius and it's cool that Sony is looking at making a movie based on the character. What's not cool is that the script is coming from the same guys who wrote Power Rangers. The script for that film was terrible. Hopefully, they at least get a good director attached!

Sony Orders New Spider-Man Spinoff Based On Morbius The Living Vampire

With Venom leading the charge, Sony is now beginning to draft up plans for future Spider-Man spinoff movies set within its fledgling Marvel universe.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, today brings word that the studio has ordered a feature film based on Morbius, the Living Vampire. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, the writers best known for Lionsgate’s recent Power Rangers reboot, have just submitted a screenplay to Sony, so this anti-hero flick is still very much in the formative stages of development.

However that may be, Morbius (real name: Dr. Michael Morbius) has been linked with a big-screen adaptation for years, so this announcement has been long on the cards. First hatched by Roy Thomas and Marvel artist Gil Kane, the undead anti-hero made his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #101, and has since become something of a cult favorite.

As THR notes, Morbius is introduced as a scientist “who suffered from

Gerard Butler Says He Doesn’t Regret Starring in ‘Gods of Egypt’

When Gods of Egypt was released in 2016, it caused wide-scale controversy. This was mainly due to the predominant use of white actors in the role of the Gods. People argued that the Egyptian Gods should not have been white and that the film was blatantly racist. A year later, and the arguments have started once again. The fantasy action-adventure film was directed by Alex Proyas and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharples. There was an ensemble cast that included Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Elodie Yung, Chadwick Boseman, Courtney Eaton, Geoffrey Rush, and Gerard Butler. Recently, Gerard Butler was

Why Flash Gordon Reboot Has Been on Indefinite Hold
Back in the spring of 2015, 20th Century Fox moved forward with its long-awaited Flash Gordon remake, setting director Matthew Vaughn at the helm, but we haven't heard anything about it since then. It turns out there's a very good reason for that, with Matthew Vaughn revealing in a new interview that he's still been working on it, but his original vision for the story was basically taken by Marvel's 2014 blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy. Here's what the director had to say below, when asked if he's still working on a Flash Gordon movie.

"Yeah, we've been working on it. For me, the only problem with Flash Gordon is Guardians (of the Galaxy) kind of stole what I would have liked to have done with it. You've got Star Wars, you've got Guardians, so you've got to have your own space opera, but you have to find something that can survive among these two very,
