Oscars 2018: Margot Robbie (‘I, Tonya’) could make history as an actress and producer

Oscars 2018: Margot Robbie (‘I, Tonya’) could make history as an actress and producer
Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”) is a shoo-in for a nomination for Best Actress next week, but she could end up making Oscars history in another category as well as was recently reported by one of our Experts, Sasha Stone (Awards Daily). Robbie is also a producer of the film, so if “I, Tonya” also receives a Best Picture nomination she would be the first actress to receive acting and producing nominations for the same film. After a year that saw actresses Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) all win Emmys as both actors and producers of TV programs, it would be fitting for Robbie’s passion project to go the distance with a pair of historic Oscar nominations.

It has been an incredible year for female stories, both real and fictional. The “Me Too” and “Time’s Up” movements have shined

Sundance: 30West to Buy Neon Following ‘I, Tonya’ Collaboration

Media investment company 30West is acquiring majority ownership in Neon, a specialist in the independent theatrical marketing and distribution space.

Both companies collaborated on the theatrical release of awards contender “I, Tonya,” starring Margot Robbie, Allison Janney, and Sebastian Stan. The deal was announced Friday on the second day of the Sundance Film Festival.

One component of the deal is the acquisition of Sr Media’s interest in the company. CAA negotiated the deal on Sr Media’s behalf.

30West was unveiled in April with Micah Green, the co-head of the film finance and sales group at Creative Artists Agency, leaving CAA to start a new venture with billionaire Dan Friedkin. It noted in Friday’s announcement that production has now started on two of its projects — Karyn Kusama’s “Destroyer,” starring Nicole Kidman, and Peter Hedges’ “Ben Is Back,” starring Julia Roberts.

At the Toronto Film Festival last year, the company

Details Revealed About Leonardo DiCaprio's Character in Tarantino's Manson Family Movie

We're learning more and more about Quentin Tarantino‘s highly anticipated Manson Family movie. The movie still doesn't have an official title but the Pulp Fiction director recently cast Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, and there are signs that point to Margot Robbie joining the production next. But now we're learning some possible info about DiCaprio’s character.

Since Tarantino walked away from long-time producers The Weinstein Company, Sony eventually landed the film. We then learned that DiCaprio will play “a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business.” Now, we have even more potential details about DiCaprio’s character.

Deadline recently reported a whole bunch of new info about DiCaprio’s role, and the movie in general:

What he plays, more specifically, is an actor who had his own Western show, Bounty Law, that ran

Harley Quinn to Return in Birds of Prey Before Suicide Squad 2?

For Dceu fans wondering when they'll see Harley Quinn next, it may be in Warner Bros.' Birds of Prey movie, one of three potential projects that will feature Margot Robbie. While we haven't heard much on that particular spin-off in quite some time, Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) was brought on to write the script back in 2016. A new report claims that Margot Robbie has taken a personal interest in Birds of Prey, which will reportedly feature multiple heroes and villains within the DC universe. Although it's possible that Suicide Squad 2 may be happening first, since there is already a director attached, and some of the cast are already training to return. The third project that's in the mix is Joker vs. Harley Quinn.

What's interesting is this report doesn't mention Gotham City Sirens, which already has director David Ayer attached, although there hasn't been much movement on that project thus far.

2018 Oscars: All 5 Best Actress nominees in Best Picture contenders for first time in 40 years?

2018 Oscars: All 5 Best Actress nominees in Best Picture contenders for first time in 40 years?
Frances McDormand (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Saoirse Ronan (“Lady Bird”), Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water”), Meryl Streep (“The Post”) and Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”) have long been our predicted Best Actress Oscar nominees. If they all make the cut, along with their films in Best Picture, they’d join a very exclusive club: It’d be first Best Actress slate in 40 years and just the fifth overall where everyone is in a film nominated for Best Picture.

The only other times this has occurred were for the film years 1934, 1939, 1940 and 1977 — but many of them come with caveats. In 1934, there were still only three acting nominees — winner Claudette Colbert (“It Happened One Night”), Grace Moore (“One Night of Love”) and Norma Shearer (“The Barretts of Wimpole Street”) — and 12 Best Picture nominees, before the academy standardized the categories to five each. This was also the infamous year of the write-in

Warner Bros. Has Plans For Three Harley Quinn Movies

2016’s Suicide Squad may have received a critical response on par with finding a lump of dog shit on your shoe, but it still made a whole bunch of money. One of the few positively received aspects of the whole affair was Margot Robbie’s take on Harley Quinn, the Joker’s on again/off again girlfriend. This, perhaps, is not too surprising, though.

After all, Quinn has been a fan favorite since her debut on Batman: The Animated Series way back in 1992, before transferring to the DC Universe proper and subsequently appearing in all manner of Batman projects. Now, in the wake of the catastrophe that was Justice League, Warner Bros. are eager to capitalize on this success, and have no less than three projects in various stages of development that all circle around Robbie’s Quinn.

First up is the most obvious, Suicide Squad 2. Word is that Warner Bros.

2018 Oscar nominations underdogs: There’s still hope for Judi Dench, Denzel Washington, Hong Chau, Woody Harrelson

2018 Oscar nominations underdogs: There’s still hope for Judi Dench, Denzel Washington, Hong Chau, Woody Harrelson
With only days to go before the 2018 Oscar nominations are announced on January 23, I’ll readily admit that the four acting races are keeping me up at night. For the most part Gold Derby’s Oscar predictions line up with the SAG Awards nominations. However, four performers in particular — Judi Dench (“Victoria & Abdul”), Denzel Washington (“Roman J. Israel, Esq.”), Hong Chau (“Downsizing”) and Woody Harrelson (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) — are not predicted to follow up their SAG notices with Oscar bids. But all hope is not lost. Any of these on-the-bubble contenders can still defy the odds on Oscar nominations morning, and here’s how:

Best Actress — Gold Derby predicts that four SAG nominees will show up at the Oscars: Frances McDormand (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Saoirse Ronan (“Lady Bird”), Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water”) and Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”). Judi Dench is that fifth SAG nominee,

Here Are the 3 Harley Quinn Movies in Contention at Warner Bros.
There’s little question that “I, Tonya” star Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn from 2016’s “Suicide Squad” — but it’s unclear which of 3 films will feature the bat-wielding psychiatrist-gone-mad.

Warner Bros. is weighing each of the projects as the next platform for Robbie, presently winning acclaim for playing Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya.” Insiders described each of the 3 films for TheWrap, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the uncertainty around where Harley will turn up next: “Suicide Squad 2.” This would be the most obvious place for the former Dr. Harleen Quinzel to pop up. Gavin O’Connor is expected...

Is Gotham City Sirens Still Happening?

A new report may suggest that David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens is no longer in development, and there’s a chance that the film’s characters could be added to the Birds of Prey adaptation instead. At the moment, Warner Bros. has eight DC Comics-related movies in active development (aside from Aquaman and Shazam!), including Suicide Squad 2. It’s widely believed that Margot Robbie’s next appearance as Harley Quinn will be in the sequel, which has The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor attached, but that’s not the only Harley Quinn-related project in the works.

Suicide Squad 2 Cast Reunite for First Training Session

Suicide Squad 2 Cast Reunite for First Training Session
It looks the gang is getting back in shape and prepped for Suicide Squad 2. The sequel is shooting later this year, with the shoot expected to commence in October. But the actors in the movie need to spend some time getting in shape and Joel Kinnaman, along with some of his fellow Suicide Squad cast members are already getting back to work, as the actor revealed in a recent social media post.

Joel Kinnaman took to Instagram to reveal that he has been working out and training with fellow stars Jai Courtney and Jay Hernandez. They have a personal trainer on hand and are trying to get themselves looking ripped enough to pull off looking like actual comic book characters, not to mention the physical demands of filming a movie like Suicide Squad 2. According to the post, they worked so hard that Hernandez actually puked.

"Brendan whipping us back into shape.

Leonardo DiCaprio Will Play a Washed-Up Actor in Quentin Tarantino’s Manson Movie, Which Might Cast Tom Cruise Next

Leonardo DiCaprio Will Play a Washed-Up Actor in Quentin Tarantino’s Manson Movie, Which Might Cast Tom Cruise Next
Here’s something you might not have noticed: Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t starred in a movie since he won an Academy Award for his performance in “The Revenant.” That makes his casting in Quentin Tarantino’s next film doubly significant, as the actor’s choosiness brings even more attention to his projects. Mike Fleming Jr., writing for Deadline, has some details on said projects — namely that DiCaprio will be playing an actor whose heyday has long since passed and that the movie is a “‘Pulp Fiction’–esque tapestry of Los Angeles during the summer of the Manson murders.”

2018 SAG Awards: Top 6 film upsets to watch out for include ‘Mudbound,’ Timothee Chalamet, ‘Baby Driver’ …
Last year at the SAG Awards we were shocked when “Hidden Figures” won the top prize for its ensemble cast over “Manchester by the Sea” and the eventual Oscar winner for Best Picture, “Moonlight.” Well, most of us were shocked. The 2018 awards season has been even more divided, so while, as always, we think we know who’s going to win, we should probably keep our eye out for some major upsets. Here are the top 6 shockers to watch out for.

“Lady Bird” cast — Though most of our users are torn between “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Get Out” for the top prize, we shouldn’t take our eye off of “Lady Bird.” It’s tied with “Three Billboards” as the largest nominated ensemble with 11 credited cast members. This would also be an opportunity to honor lead actress Saoirse Ronan and supporting actress Laurie Metcalf if voters decide to

His attempt to transition to movies didn’t work out and in 1969 he’s guesting on other people’s shows while contemplating going to Italy which has become a hotbed for low-budget Westerns.

Margot Robbie May Reprise Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey Movie

Margot Robbie may next play Harley Quinn in DC’s Birds of Prey movie. Robbie was the clear breakout star of Suicide Squad thanks to her performance as the character, and fans have since been waiting to find out when Robbie will play the former Dr. Quinzel again. However, with the world of DC Films going through some major changes in the aftermath of last year’s Justice League disappointment, it’s not been clear exactly where or when Robbie as Harley Quinn will show up next.
