  • Continuity: The cooling ducts on the side of Bruce Wayne's Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 are closed at the beginning of the scene, then open. They're motorized, but they take time to open and close.

  • Continuity: In the scene on the MCU roof, Det. Ramirez holds a cup of coffee with two hands, then one hand, then two hands again.

  • Continuity: In the hospital, when The Joker places the gun in Two-Face's hand and points it at his own head, he cocks the hammer. When the camera faces Two-Face, The Joker's finger is over the hammer. When it's facing The Joker, it's not there.

  • Continuity: When Batman beats The Joker in the holding cell, The Joker's hands change position as Batman pins him to the wall. When the camera faces The Joker, his hands are gripping Batman's arms from below, with the fingers pointing up. When the camera faces Batman, The Joker's hands are holding Batman's arms from above, with his fingers pointing down.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the final shot, several non-illuminated lights are at the end of the ramp. They are Bebee Night Lights, which were used to light most of the night chase scene.

  • Continuity: When Batman is interrogating The Joker, we can see The Joker's suspenders on his left shoulder. After cutting to Batman, the suspenders are back under his vest.

  • Revealing mistakes: Gordon shuts the heavy iron door as he walks into the interrogation cell to question The Joker. The reflection in the mirror shows the door swinging open again. That means the door was unlocked, and it's much lighter than it looks.

  • Revealing mistakes: Gotham General Hospital is the administration building for the old Brach's Candy factory in Chicago. When the building is going up in flames, and the aerial shot swings around to the one side, you can see that windows in the back are different, and the interior is gutted. The windows in the upper floors were added later in post-production, since it was explained in the special features that the windows were stolen from the production site before they could be installed.

  • Revealing mistakes: The school bus backs up into the bank hard, and goes almost halfway into the building. When The Joker drives it out, the bus has no scratches or dents.

  • Continuity: When Bruce picks up one of the gauntlets, the blades are closed. Bruce opens the blades and accidentally fires them off. When he puts it back in the drawer, the blades are back on the gauntlet, and closed.

  • Revealing mistakes: Immediately after the Joker's "magic trick," part of the table is covered in dimples, from the actor repeatedly stabbing it with the pencil.

  • Continuity: During the bank heist, the Joker isn't wearing makeup on his eyelids. When he removes the mask, he has black makeup over his eyelids.

  • Continuity: After the Joker tells the citizens of Gotham that he wants Mr. Reese dead in an hour or he will blow up a hospital, Bruce leaves to go to his Lamborghini. While Bruce crosses the room saying "I need you plugged in checking Gordon's men and their families," the TV in the background goes from showing a news broadcast to instantly being off as Bruce passes in front of it.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the beginning of the film, during the bank robbery, you can see the shadow of the steadicam operator as he passes the vault door.

  • Continuity: During the big-rig chase scene the length of the trailer attached to the truck changes. In one shot the truck is making a right hand turn and has a 14' trailer attached to it but when it blows up and flips over it is clearly a 48' or 53' trailer.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Salvatore Maroni gets into the car towards the end of the movie, you can see the background moving (like the car is already in motion) before he actually enters the car and sits down.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the holding cell, when Batman smashes the Joker against the wall, a camera with a blue LED/LCD screen and two people from the crew reflect on the right mirror.

  • Continuity: At the end of the bank heist, as the Joker climbs aboard the bus, the body of the driver he just shot disappears.

  • Continuity: In the scene where Batman jumps from the spiral parking lot ramp onto the scarecrow's van, Batman is seen falling as the van appears to his left under him. He should land on the van facing it's left side - but in the cut scene directly afterward he lands facing the same direction as the van.

  • Continuity: During the beginning the movie, the police department is labeled as GCPD. During the chase scene after Harvey turns himself in as Batman, all of the armored vehicles have only GPD on the side of them.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman drops onto Doctor Crane's van, it is clear that the van was stopping before Batman lands on the roof.

  • Continuity: Even though Batman shot off the scallops on his arm to get the Joker off of him, when he goes to stop Two-Face, both of his arms still have the trademark scallops.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the interrogation scene when Gordon leaves the room and the lights come on, you can see the Joker (Heath Ledger) close his eyes and brace himself to have his head slammed into the desk before Batman (Christian Bale) touches him. However, he was probably blinking from the bright lights coming on after he was in the dark for so long.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Rachel is thrown out the window and Batman dives out to save her, we never see Batman go back up to his flat to flood out the Joker and his gang. However, with his trusty grapple hook, he could have done so in short time, and, having just received a vicious beating, the Joker's thugs were likely eager to get out of there. Simply because scenes aren't shown doesn't mean events didn't take place.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The Joker claims he rigged the ferries with diesel fuel and ammonium nitrate and although diesel fuel normally only combusts under pressure and not with the addition of heat, ammonium nitrate/fuel oil (AN/FO) is a widely used explosive, even with diesel fuel.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When they are trying to get Reese to safety, going into the alley and out of the building, you can see a cameraman running down the stairs after the police and Gordon. This cameraman is the one GCN reporter Mike Engle tells to follow him while he is reporting.

  • Crew or equipment visible: As the bus is driving away after the Joker blows up the hospital, you can see an IMAX camera in the seat opposite of him. This was to film a shot on the bus that was deleted (as explained in the special features).

  • Revealing mistakes: In the opening scenes establishing the bank heist, immediately after the grappling gun shot, the eye-holes in the Joker's mask do not show what's behind them as they would if they were actual eye-holes. They glow lighter than the background until blacked out digitally when the truck appears.

  • Factual errors: When Two-Face hangs up on Commissioner Gordon, a standard telephony off-hook signal can be heard on Gordon's cell phone. This is a signal used in standard land-line telephone exchanges and would not be applicable on a wireless phone network, which works differently.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When the Joker is shooting at Batman on the Batpod as he comes toward him, we see on the building behind the Joker a banner saying "Sweet Home Chicago" - the actual location where the downtown scene was shot. But this can be explained as an advertisement from a travel agent, a musical or concert, or any other event bearing the Chicago name, but taking place in Gotham.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When he and Alfred are on the pleasure yacht, Bruce is picked up by a plane capable of water landings. When he does the sky-hook to pick up Lau, the plane that retrieves him is a C-130 Commando Solo, incapable of water landings. Given that the first plane was there just to pick Bruce up and get him to Hong Kong via non-official means, there is no reason to suspect that it's crew knew him to be Batman. Likewise, the crew of the plane that picks him up in the "sky-hook" operation would have no reason to suspect him to be Bruce Wayne, given that he's in his Batman outfit when they pick him up and he's not shown to reveal himself as Bruce.

  • Continuity: In some shots you see the cops/detectives wearing uniform with GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) on them and in other shots you see the vehicles written as GPD.

  • Continuity: After Batman hits the Joker a few times, the Joker is on the ground telling Batman about Harvey and Rachel. The Batman grabs the Joker and when the Joker is talking to him, all of his teeth are yellow, except his bottom front teeth, which are bright and white.

  • Errors in geography: At the beginning of the movie, during the heist, the robbers enter through the front doors(lets call this wall "north" and the wall that the bus crashes through is "west"). Well at the end of the robbery when the bus leaves and the camera shows the exterior of the bank, the bus makes a right turn (merges with the other buses which are running directly parallel with the front wall "north"). Well this is wrong since the bus only made a 90 degree turn, which would of made it directly perpendicular with the "north" wall instead of parallel as it is depicted in the film. In order for the bus to have merged with the other buses and proceed driving parallel with the "north" wall, it would have had to make a 180 degree turn instead of the 90 degree that was depicted in the film. You also know for a fact that the bus crashes through the "west" wall because throughout the heist, you can clearly see the windows that are shown later on the outside when the buses are leaving.

  • Continuity: During the chase scene on the lower street level the truck in which the Joker is riding hits the right side of the SWAT truck, however the SWAT truck flies off into the river as though it had been hit on it's left side. Furthermore the road changes from a gradual right turn immediately to a gradual left turn. In the special features the original shots of the SWAT truck going into the river reveal that it was correctly shot such that the truck appears to be hit from the right side but the film was simply reversed.

  • Continuity: During the chase scene when the tumbler collides with the garbage truck and immediately turns around, the road is completely empty. Not only should the armored truck be visible, but also the other cars which the truck must pass.

  • Continuity: During the bank heist scene, Joker's hair changes from a natural brown color, to green right when he walks past the bus after it's just crashed through the bank's wall.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Batman's voice has been criticized for being artificial-sounding and unnaturally gravelly. In the promotions for the preceding movie, Batman Begins, the cowl is revealed to have a microphone/speaker that alters and amplifies Bruce Wayne's voice to disguise his identity and increase intimidation.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Bruce, his date, Rachel, and Harvey meet in the restaurant, Bruce says he will "put two tables together." In the next shot, we see all four sitting around a single table. This wasn't meant to be taken literally, since he owned the restaurant his staff would have made sure that his guests were seated on a larger table.

  • Continuity: In the bank heist scene, where the robbers enter the bank, one grabs the police officer standing near the entrance, drags him to a counter, hits him in the back, which causes the cop to collapse. Apparently one hit to the back isn't enough, because later on in the scene, we see the hit on the back repeated.

  • Continuity: The length of The Joker's hair changes throughout the course of the movie on several occasions. It begins mid length then changes to long, then back to short.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Two-Face is in the hospital which the Joker plans on blowing up, you can see make-up on his pillow which has rubbed off from the "burnt" side of his face. Actually the movie makers did this on purpose, it its supposed to be "ashes" or pieces of Two-Face's burnt side rubbing off onto the pillow.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the beginning shot of the movie where the camera closes in to a windowed building, you could see the helicopter reflecting on the windows, carrying the camera, on the very left-hand side.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When we see the video of The Joker interrogating the fake Batman and he points the camera at himself, his teeth are really yellow and ugly. But when Bruce is watching the same video at his bunker, and the computer it's analyzing the Joker's face, his teeth are all white and clean. However, The Joker's red painted smile appears to be black indicating that the image is in black and white.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the early vault scene, Lt.Gordon's speaking voice is also altered by mistake when he follows Batman, as Gordon says "we'd have to hit all the banks simultaneously, SWAT teams, backup": his voice is accidentally audio-"soured" as well.

  • Continuity: When the Joker waves his pistol behind his head in order to shoot out the window before throwing Rachael through it, the pistol is pointed directly to the Joker's left, though the window directly behind him blows out when he pulls the trigger.

  • Factual errors: After the explosion at the warehouse, a fire hose is seen playing a jet of water from side to side across the top of the burning rubble. While this looks very pretty, a professional firefighter would never do this. They would concentrate the water at the the base of the fire then work their way slowly across the blaze.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Marioni arrives at the hospital and confronts Gordon he is standing. But Batman "interrogated" Marioni and threw him off a building where he landed on his legs. However, even though he was dropped and landed on his feet, he only injured one ankle. Several scenes after the fall he is shown carrying a cane indicating that only his one foot is injured and he can walk fine with just a cane.

  • Continuity: In the scene on the balcony of the penthouse when Bruce and Rachel are talking, Bruce is seen pouring the contents of his champagne glass over the side. He is later seen holding the glass with the champagne still in it.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the scene where Bruce is attempting to reconstruct the fingerprint from a shattered bullet, he says to Fox "And there's the print from when he pushed the round into the clip". While it would seem that the fingerprint would be on the shell casing, which is ejected from any semi-automatic weapon, not the bullet, the process of loading a magazine usually involves sliding the round in to the magazine primer-first, then pushing it back and into the magazine. As such, the pressure would be on the bullet to push the round fully into the magazine, as well as the casing from the initial insertion.

  • Revealing mistakes: Gary Oldman lets his English accent slip several times, most noticeably while he is yelling at Harvey Dent after the police fail to seize the mob's funds.

  • Continuity: After Batman avoids hitting the Joker and runs the Batpod into the 18-Wheeler, there are TWO clown henchmen. One is electrocuted by the Batsuit, but the other remains standing. Gordon gets the upperhand on the Joker and releases Harvey Dent, but the second clown henchmen is ignored.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Batman drops onto Doctor Crane's van, it is clear that the van is slowing down before Batman lands on the roof. At that point, the van is going round a bend, so would need to slow down anyway.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the Joker's bus comes out of the bank, you can hear children in the bus behind him - but no kids are seen on the bus.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman has the sonar vision on, he can see shadows of objects like the SWAT members and the Joker's dogs. Sonar would not pick up these shadows. While it is possible that the software which interprets the sonar data might create a virtual display with shadows for visibility's sake, that doesn't explain how the sonar manages to see the letters spelling SWAT on the officers' uniforms (e.g. in the scene where the SWATs exit the elevator).

  • Continuity: When Batman jumps from the IFC2 skyscraper, you can see the Bank of China Tower to his right. When he crashes through the window into the building, you can see the same building again, but it's now directly behind him.

  • Continuity: Batman's sonar lenses are not on in several instances in the Pruitt building scene when they should have been. The camera cuts back and forth too fast for the lenses to be turned off or on.

  • Continuity: Near the end of the Pruitt building sequence, there are 6 SWAT members connected by a cord surrounding Batman, but only 5 go over the edge of the building.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: From the timeline in the film, it appears that Gordon and Batman investigate the opening bank heist after Batman busts a meeting between Scarecrow and the Chechen. However, it is more likely that the bust occurs a day after the bank heist. For one, it is late when Gordon waits at the bat-signal ("Ever intending to see your wife again, lieutenant?"), yet it's only dusk when he enters the bank. It's unlikely that a crime scene would sit for so long before Gordon investigated it. Also, Gotham Tonight's episode 6 ends with reports of the bank heist taking place, although episode 7 is aired in the film right "after" the bank heist but immediately before Batman's introduction in the Scarecrow-Chechen meeting. Batman's elbow is also not visible when he speaks with Gordon, so it is possible that he hadn't been bitten by the dog at that time, and thus hadn't faced the Chechen nor his dogs.

  • Continuity: The two clown hostages that Batman push over a ledge, reappear at the ledge shortly after, standing in the same formation, when the SWAT team go through the window.

  • Continuity: As Batman interrogates the Joker, you can see that the amount of make-up on the Joker's forehead changes between the shots from almost fully covered to nearly disappeared (because of the slam on the table).

  • Continuity: When the three members of the SWAT team rappels into the Prewitt Building near the end, you can hear their sub machine guns fire at the windows and clearly see all three windows crack under the gunfire, however, if you look closely only one of the guns give off a muzzle flash.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman trips the hostages dressed as clowns with the rope/wire gun you can see the middle hostage jump as to pretend being tripped by the wire.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During a shot of when the U.S. Army National Guard is called out to Gotham City, a UH-1 Huey is pictured. (The U.S. Army National Guard still operates the UH-1 Huey, although in small numbers.)

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When the Joker is talking on the loud speaker to the people on the boats, he says they have to press the button on the detonator. (The key is to prevent accidental button pressing. The button is still required to be pressed to detonate the explosive.)

  • Continuity: When Batman's tumbler crashes through a wall after taking a rocket for Dent, it clearly shows it is about to land upside down. But the clip immediately after shows the tumbler lands the right side up.

  • Continuity: Before Batman jumps from the IFC2 skyscraper, he shoots a few timed explosives at the window of Lau's office, which is directly facing Batman. However when the windows explode, Batman and Lau were picked up by the sky-hook, and they are pulled out at the opposite side of the building. And now the IFC2 is behind them.

  • Continuity: When Dent is being transported in the SWAT van, the Joker shoots at the vehicle and you can see where the rounds have hit the armored car. However, after the Joker has been captured and Gordon opens the door to the armored car, Dent is on the opposite side of the vehicle and there are no points of impact from the bullets on the vehicle's walls.

  • Continuity: When the Joker starts firing at the Batpod, he hits a Cadillac and it careens to the side of the street, taking down trash cans. Seconds later, the same Cadillac and trash cans are exactly as they were right before the Joker started firing at the Batpod.

  • Revealing mistakes: Harvey Dent is soaked in gasoline on his left side, the heat and flames of the ignition are enough to burn off the entire side of his face, down to the bone in some areas, yet his suit remains completely intact, with some minor burns to the shoulder area.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the opening sequence when the robber fires the grappling gun you can clearly see that it doesn't grab onto anything. Instead it travels a few feet and falls down

  • Factual errors: The set designers created the hospital Emergency Room entrance with no means of rolling a gurney in. Also, the "Emergency" sign should be red, not blue.

  • Continuity: As the Joker completes his bank heist, he prepares to reveal his face to the bank manager by placing his right hand on his mask (his left hand can be seen holding the back of the manager's head). In the very next shot his left hand removes the mask instead.

  • Revealing mistakes: Despite the fact that Two-face misses large parts of his lips and cheek that are acoustically essential to forming words, his voice is identical to before he was injured.

  • Continuity: In the opening shot of the film a large shadow is cast over the Gotham bank's roof where the goons intend to grapple onto. In all subsequent shots the shadow is gone and what appeared to be a clear sky in the opening shot is now an overcast, darker sky.

  • Revealing mistakes: When loading the bags of cash in the opening scene, the school bus looks to be moving forward, as if someone has forgotten the handbrake of the bus.

  • Continuity: In the scene that Bruce is taking care of the injury in his arm and Alfred starts to help him, he says: "There were more copycats last night, Alfred, with guns." When he says that, he is looking straight, directly to Alfred. But when Alfred speaks, Bruce is already looking down. This happens several times during this scene.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harvey Dent is lying in the petrol, the liquid is clearly seen to splash up on the other side of his lips, however, this side of his face is completely unharmed after the fire.

  • Errors in geography: When Lucius Fox meets with Lau on the terrace of his Hong Kong office building, you can clearly see all of the McCormick Place buildings in the background behind Fox. McCormick Place is really located in Chicago, IL and not Hong Kong.

  • Revealing mistakes: Green screen reflection: In the scene when the Joker meets the mob leaders, in the wide shot where the Joker slams the pencil onto the table you can clearly see the green reflection of the original television screen on Gambol's table, although the screen has been digitally replaced later with a shot of Lau, the green spill remains.

  • Crew or equipment visible: After The Joker blows up the hospital and sits down on his bus, a crew member in the very last row wearing white headphones or ear muffs can be seen cuing the bus driver. Immediately after he has given the driver the cue, you can see him ducking down so as not to be seen.

  • Continuity: When the Joker confronts Rachel at the party and tells her about his wife, the angle at which he's holding his knife changes several times between shots - in one such change, he holds it against Rachel's cheek at a side-view, then has it under her nose immediately afterwards during a close-up.

  • Continuity: When Alfred and Rachel are having a conversation when we see Alfred's front he is wearing a fold down collar and neck tie but viewed from behind we see the band of a bow tie around a wing collar shirt.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Batman and Rachel land on the car after falling from the penthouse, Batman's lips do not move when he asks Rachel if she is alright

  • Continuity: During the scene in Hong Kong, Batman is standing on a building and shoots several explosives to the building adjacent to him to extradite Lau. But, as soon as Batman jumps from the building, he doesn't crash through the building he shot his explosives into, but into the same building he was standing on.

  • Errors in geography: In the opening scene with the school bus, when it starts to pull away from the bank, the license plate reads Illinois. All vehicles in the movie have Illinois license plates on them if you look close enough.

  • Continuity: In the SWAT truck chase, after The Joker fires a second missile from the tractor-trailer, the camera cuts to a wide shot of the vehicles and the "(S)LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE" logo and artwork disappears completely from the big rig, leaving only a plain white trailer. It reappears in the next shot.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Gordon, Dent, and Batman meet on the roof of the MCU, and Gordon enters the scene from an indoor stairwell, the city could be seen behind the door, indicating that it was, in fact, built.

  • Continuity: Wayne Tower is radically altered between Batman Begins and this sequel. It was originally the Chicago Board of Trade Building with special effects used to show the monorail running through it. In the sequel it is the Richard J. Daley Center which bares no resemblance to the previous Wayne Tower and the monorail has been completely removed (rather than being repaired after the events of Batman Begins).

  • Continuity: During the interrogation scene, Batman flips Joker onto the table and Joker lands with his arms down by his sides, but when the camera angle changes his arms are up near his head.

  • Revealing mistakes: It is quite apparent that the wall the SWAT team blew through had a pre-determined break-away area.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Rachel's quote "Harvey, the last man that they appointed to protect the republic was named Caesar and he never gave up his power," isn't correct. Caesar is a title, like Emperor. Presumably Rachel refers to Gaius Julius Caesar - and he wasn't the last emperor of the Roman republic either.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: It is often referenced that the license plates in the movie are all from Illinois. This is not accurate. The film makers made "Gotham" plates that resembled Illinois plates just in case some slipped through in background shots.

  • Revealing mistakes: Many cameras were used to shoot the scene where Wayne's Lamborghini blocks the pickup from ramming the SUV caring Gordon. CGI was used to remove them in post. However, the IMAX cam that was on the chase vehicle actually hit the bed of the pickup. In the overhead shot, watch the pickup's stake pocket behind the driver's door. The dent from the camera strike suddenly appears even though the camera has been removed.

  • Revealing mistakes: During the chase scene, the officer in the helicopter with the assault rifle has his electronic weapon sight (attached to a rail just forward of the carrying handle) mounted backwards.

  • Continuity: During the bank heist, one of the Joker's men grabs a security officer in the bank lobby, who is clearly wearing a white shirt. In the next scene when the bank manager shoots one of the Joker's men holding the security officer - the officer is wearing a blue shirt.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Alfred first meets Bruce Wayne in the "Batcave" they are talking. Bruce says, "That isn't exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted to inspire people." The shot has already cut to another angle and Bruce's lips aren't moving, but he is still saying "inspire people."

  • Continuity: During the hospital scene where the Joker gives the gun to Harvey, you can see the heart monitor on Harvey's finger when he shows Joker his coin. When the angle changes to Joker's view, the monitor disappears, but reappears on his finger when the view changes back.

  • Revealing mistakes: Towards the end the Joker sicks Chechen's dogs on Batman. After the dogs tackle Batman you can briefly see the dogs biting enlarged training gloves on Batman's arms.

  • Continuity: In the scene where Alfred hands Bruce a glass of champagne, there are three glasses left on the tray from which Alfred serves, when the camera changes angles, there are four glasses visible as Alfred passes Bruce.

  • Continuity: Before leaving the bank, the Joker connects a line attached to the pin of the smoke bomb to the bus. As the bus leaves the bank, the pin should be dragged out behind it, but instead is pulled out and simply falls to the ground.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Alfred arrives at the shipping container yard he unlocks a padlock at the entrance to Batman's new lair. As this is the only (apparent) entrance to the lair - or at least the only one used in the film - an obvious question is how Bruce Wayne closed the padlock from the inside. However, the cargo door is clearly not large enough for a vehicle like Batman's tumbler, so at least a second entrance for the vehicle must be somewhere in the lair.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the final confrontation between Harvey, Gordon, and Batman, Harvey flips his coin first for Batman, then himself second. He should have flipped the coin for Gordon's son second and himself last, since he wanted a final "fair" accounting for all of them.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the school bus smashes through the wall during the bank heist, the goon that's supposed to get killed flies backward before the bus even gets near him, even thought there's a sound effect to suggest it hit him.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Jim Gordon puts a shotgun to Joker's head after the street chase in Gotham, he is wearing a pair of glasses. Later when he opens the armored car door to let Harvey Dent out, he is wearing a different pair. Since it would have taken Gordon a minute or two to secure Joker and his henchman, there's no reason he couldn't have also switched his glasses before opening the door.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the bank heist before the school bus comes you see more than 6 bags full of cash, but only four bags being loaded onto the bus. Since the other bags were under the rubble and Joker was operating on a schedule (the opening between the school buses couldn't have been coincidence), he probably just left them.

  • Factual errors: In the scene where Bruce and Fox attempting to reconstruct the fingerprint from a shattered bullet, the print goes all the way to the back edge of the slug. This is impossible, as part of the slug is contained inside the shell casing of the bullet. At most, they should have gotten an incomplete print.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Harvey Dent has had half his face burned off, his lips on his left side are gone, leaving his teeth, cheek muscles and tendons exposed, however, his speech remains almost exactly the same; in real-life, he would be nearly-impossible to understand. His exposed left eye should be useless as well, yet he is able to move it and see out of it.

  • Revealing mistakes: Reese meets with Fox and shows him the Tumbler blueprints he's discovered. What is clearly the right side of the vehicle is marked on the print as the left elevation.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman lands on the Scarecrow's van with his cape spread (air resistance), he crushes the top of the van in. But later when Batman and Rachel fall from presumably a much greater height from the penthouse window with his cape flailing in the wind (less air resistance), he only does slight damage to the taxi they land on.

  • Continuity: When Batman grabs onto Scarecrow's van, just before he cuts into the metal, you can see a small indented outline of where he's going to cut.

  • Continuity: When Batman jumps out of his penthouse window to save Rachel, the Joker sidesteps the window that was broken and moves to the right. However, in the next shot, the Joker has disappeared and can't be seen in any of the windows.

  • Continuity: In "Batman Begins", one of Gordon's children was in a highchair. In this film, however, both of his children are well past using a highchair, considering this film takes place 6 months later.

  • Revealing mistakes: After having his truck flipped over the Joker fires at an oncoming Cadillac, sparks fly off the car but no bullet holes are seen.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman grabs the goon's gun in the early Scarecrow scene, he prevents the goon from using the gun by bending the barrel of the gun. In reality, this would have been impossible because the goon was still holding the gun - to create the amount of stress to make the barrel bend like that, the goon would have needed to be as strong as Batman. Otherwise, the gun would just flip out of the goon's hands rather than bend.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Lau is talking to the other mobsters on television he can obviously see the events in the meeting room, even though no kind of camera is visible in the room.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: As Dent is holding Gordon near the end, he focuses his revolver on him and cocks the hammer. Seconds later, when he approaches Gordon's family, he cocks the hammer again.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: At the end of the long trailer chase scene, when the Joker confronts Batman in the Batpod. When he fires a second round of shots from his machine gun, the Batpod is clearly visible next to the car he is shooting at. Then in the next take the Batpod is in the same location.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: Harvey Dent confesses to being Batman yet nobody seems to notice his chin dimple - something which Dent clearly has but Batman clearly doesn't. However, very few people have actually seen Batman in person, since he largely stays hidden in shadows and only reveals himself when fighting bad guys or talking to police, so this is a detail that most people would not be familiar with.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): SPOILER: Gotham paramedics are not well trained. In the first place, right after Gordon's "death" the perp is in the ambulance, handcuffed to the stretcher. First, the medics would have used soft restraints. Even more problematic is the fact the medic left the patient alone with Harvey Dent - which would be considered abandonment which would cause him to lose his license. Finally, the ambulance engine would not have been turned off, but left running. Later, medics respond to the inmate who collapses in the jail. First, they should be assessing his airway, breathing, and circulation, not removing his shirt. Furthermore, they would not remove the shirt, but cut it off with trauma shears.

  • Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: Near the very end of the film when Batman is telling Commissioner Gordon to blame Two-Face's murders on him, the film cuts to a dead Two-Face lying on the ground. For the brief moment the shot is on Two-Face, you see just the prosthetic on the actor's face and not the CGI-enhanced version in the rest of the film.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: In the scene where Batman crashes the Batpod into the Joker's overturned truck, its revealed that Gordon isn't dead. In that scene he's wearing shooting style glasses, black plastic wrap-around frames that go along the top of the lenses and down the nose-piece but not under them. In the next scene, a few seconds later, Gordon is wearing the same glasses he had been throughout the movie.
