Sex & Nudity

  • Ant-Man contains infrequent mild sexual references.

Violence & Gore

  • There are some instances of moderate action violence, including a few scenes of fist fights, kicking and gunfire. Most of the violence has a comic element, and is much less violent than most superhero films.
  • A man slams a mans face down hard onto a table and we see blood coming out of his nose.
  • A man confronts another man in the Mens Room and shoots him with a futuristic gun which turns him into a small blob of goo that is still moving like a heartbeat. The other man wipes it off the floor with a paper towel. This scene does not put any emphasis on gore and the transformation is rapid.
  • Sight of blood is infrequent and discreet. A man is shot in the shoulder (recovers later) and blood shows through to his suit
  • A baby lamb is experimented on and also zapped into pink goo. One character despises the action.
  • A villain enters a little girl's room and holds her hostage - picks her up - she screams. He doesn't actually harm her in any way.
  • A villain dies after shrinking uncontrollably until he disappears. The scene is disturbing, as his arm and other limbs forcibly contract into his body.
  • The main villain and the hero are fighting each other in the final fight scene, it's very intense and the ants army sequence might be scary.

Profanity

  • Uses of moderate bad language include 'shit' (at least 4 times), 'pussy' (once), 'son of a bitch' (once), 'ass'

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters drink in a bar before a heist. The main character takes a long swig from a beer bottle then puts it down.
  • Hank Pym smokes a cigar in one scene.
  • Luis jokes about getting high in one scene, Scott rolls his eyes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Despite the moderate comic-book violence and language, this is one of the more kid-friendly Marvel Comics movies.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A pet ant is vaporized by a bullet and his wing is shown falling slowly to the ground - distressful for the main character at least.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The appearance of the main antagonist may be unsettling to younger viewers. He enters a little girl's room at night and she asks if he is a monster. He picks her up and she screams, but otherwise is not harmed. Her step dad and police officer quickly comes to her rescue (along with her real dad).
  • The scene where a main character enters another dimension may be scary for younger viewers, as we're told that anyone who enters this place can never escape. He hopelessly floats through the dimension for several minutes, although he is eventually saved.
