At the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, Kevin Hart went on record saying this film was his best work to date and is most representative of his work on-stage as a stand-up comedian.
On January 21st, 2015, Kevin Hart bought out two shows of The Wedding Ringer in a theater near Toledo, Ohio. He then urged his fans to "tell them Kevin Hart sent me." 500 patrons were then treated to a free showing of The Wedding Ringer.
This was originally set to be a starring vehicle for Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.
When Josh Gad and Kevin Hart crashed the wedding, the best man (Josh Peck) yells out Wolverines. Josh Peck played the title role in _Red Dawn_ (2012) where he was the leader of group of teenage insurgents named after their football team called the Wolverines.
The music used during the football scene was from the score of Rudy (1993).
Josh Gad says his favorite superhero is Pac Man. Josh starred in the movie Pixels in which Pac Man was an evil character.
When Josh Peck comes out to make a best man speech, he ends it with "Wolverines!" This is a reference to his previous film Red Dawn (2012).
The end scene on the plane Jorge Garcia (Lurch/ Garvey) says " I got a really bad feeling about this flight" Jorge Garcia was a on the show LOST where the plane crashes.

During the football scene, the quarterback for the old guys is none other than Joe Namath who is also wearing his signature #12. He played for the New York Jets from 1965 to 1976.
Early in the film when Doug (Josh Gad) falls through the desk he yells out "I can't feel my **** legs!" In Frozen, Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad) yells "My legs! I can't feel my legs!"

Many of the characters are named after professional football players - Plunkett, Alzado, or baseball players Palmer, Garvey.
Affion Crockett and Josh Gad both star in the movie Pixels.
The logos for Sony Corporation, Screen Gems, Miramax & Will Packer Productions don't appear until the end of the film's cold open.
Alan Ritchson references his Blue Mountain State character Thad Castle when they first meet Doug by saying "Oil Change!"

Before the movie ends, Lurch says he has a bad feeling about this flight. Which is ironic because Jorge Garcia who plays Lurch also played Hurley on the show Lost. Which was about people being in a plane crash and stranded on an island.

In the family lunch scene, kevin hart's character 'bic' says; "I remember when I was sucking d*ck for money...". This line came from his stand-up comedy show 'Laugh at my pain' (2011), in which he said his cousin did do that.

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

At the end of the movie when Doug and Jimmy are flying to Cancun with all the other fake groomsmen plus Nadia and others, Jorge Garcia's character says the last line of the movie "I have a bad feeling about this flight". Jorge Garcia had previously starred in the successful television series Lost (2004)where a plane crash lands on an island.
Kevin Hart's character states to Josh Gad that Father McNulty, who is scheduled to perform the ceremony, would recognize Jimmy Callahan as an impostor because the Father was the principal at the Benjamin Rush school. There is a real Benjamin Rush school in Northeast Philadelphia where Hart attended George Washington High School. In addition, Benjamin Rush, a founding father, was born in Kevin Hart's hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
