Woody Harrelson in talks for Venom, set photos see Tom Hardy performing motorcycle stunt

It looks like Woody Harrelson is set to follow up his role in the galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story by joining the Marvel universe – well, the Sony one, at least – with Variety reporting that the actor is in talks to join the Venom solo movie.

Although details are scarce, it’s said that Harrelson is up for the role of a henchman, presumably to Riz Ahmed’s (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) villain, rumoured to be that of Carnage. Given that Venom is taking inspiration from the Lethal Protector story arc, it’s possible that we could see Harrelson with his own symbiote.

Woody Harrelson in Discussions to Join the Cast of New Venom Movie

Tom Hardy could have some new company in the upcoming Venom movie, as it's being reported that Woody Harrelson is in discussions to join the cast of Sony's movie about one of Spider-Man's most popular villains (or antihero, depending on how you view the character).

Word on Harrelson's potential involvement with Venom comes from Variety, who report that Harrelson would play a "henchman of sorts," although Sony has yet to officially comment on the casting.

Harrelson would join a cast that includes Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a man who becomes linked with an alien Symbiote that turns him into Venom, one of the ultimate villains in the Spider-Man universe. Although Venom and the Symbiote have a big influence on Spider-Man in the Marvel comic books, this film would take place outside of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which includes the most recent appearance by the web-slinger in this year's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Although Sony Pictures' Venom already in production, with filming starting in late October, it's never too late to add a new cast member. A new report surfaced today which revealed that Woody Harrelson is in talks to sign on, reportedly to play "a henchman of sorts," although there is no indication that this character has roots in the Marvel Comics, and it remains unclear when we'll find out more about this character. New Venom Set Photos See Tom Hardy In Action

Since Sony’s Venom began production back in October, a steady stream of pics from the set have leaked out. The latest bunch have arrived online today and though not terribly revealing, they showcase Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock shooting what looks to be a motorcycle action sequence.

If you’re disappointed that the actor isn’t in the classic black suit in these shots, then you should know that the big reveal of what the movie’s version of the symbiote supervillain looks like won’t occur for a while yet. It’s been confirmed that Venom will be an entirely CGI creation though, so don’t expect to see the creature until, say, the first teaser trailer drops sometime next year.

However, we can still gather something about the approach to the film from these photos. As said above, it looks like this is an action-based scene. But from Hardy’s casual wear,

Ccxp Teaser Poster For Venom Officially Unleashed

“We are Venom.”

That’s the official tagline attached to the Ccxp (Comic-Con Experience) teaser poster for Venom, Sony and Ruben Fleischer’s starry spinoff pic that is about to uncover a whole new breed of anti-hero in 2018.

Initially spotted at Brazil’s annual expo early last week, the banner image features a classic rendition of the alien symbiote that first slithered onto the pages of Randy Schueller’s comic in ’88. Now, almost 30 years later, Fleischer and Mad Max star Tom Hardy are about to deliver a hardboiled version of the iconic anti-hero, and we understand filming is already underway across parts of Atlanta and New York.

As a matter of fact, both Hardy and Fleischer have been dropping story clues all this week, after the latter revealed another comic inspiration for Venom‘s narrative arc: Planet of the Symbiotes. First published in ’95, its story will seemingly be fused with that of Lethal Protector,

Venom Director Reveals More Plot Details For Upcoming Spinoff

As production continues on Sony’s Venom, more plot details are leaking out about the symbiote’s first solo outing. Star Tom Hardy recently confirmed that the movie is based off the 1993 Lethal Protector comic book storyline, as has been rumoured for some time, and now, a second inspiration has been revealed via the film’s director, Ruben Fleischer.

Speaking at the Comic-Con Experience 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Fleischer announced that Venom would not only draw elements from Lethal Protector but also the lesser-known story arc Planet of the Symbiotes. Published in 1995, the original plot sees Eddie Brock team up with former enemy Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s clone Scarlet Spider to find the true killer of a spate of symbiote-related murders that have framed Venom. It’s revealed that the five other symbiotes from Lethal Protector are responsible and the story’s big climax involves the symbiotes building a teleport to their home world,
